M/Y Sir Reel
The Perfect Adventure Base for Fishing, Kayaking, and Hiking Southeast Alaska

Sir Reel at home port in Auke Bay, Alaska.
Tour Sir Reel
Say hello to the M/Y Sir Reel, our stately 50-foot Mikelson sportfishing yacht! Custom-built in 1993, it spent much of its life in southern California. When Captain Dave found this gorgeous boat about a year into our search, it was love at first sight!
We had the incredible fortune of bringing this yacht from San Diego to its new home in Juneau, Alaska. In future posts, we’ll share more details about that epic adventure.
Over the last couple of years, we've lovingly updated Sir Reel with all new electronics, galley equipment, and a washer/dryer. Our 13-foot center console, Legal Tender, is available for off-yacht adventures like beach bonfires, visiting Hoonah or Elfin Cove, or a peaceful wander in a remote inlet.
Sir Reel has more room aboard than most other daily charters. We have a large salon, a massive aft deck, and a spacious, fully-enclosed flybridge. These features make our daily and multi-day excursions truly unique in the southeast Alaska adventure scene.
Aft Deck
Did I already mention Sir Reel’s massive aft deck? Forgive me for repeating myself, but we know it’s every fisherman’s dream to have more than 100 square feet dedicated to the sport itself.

Absolutely perfect for dropping lines for halibut, trolling for salmon, or jigging up some rockfish.
Unlike many other multiday charter yachts in southeast Alaska, we focus mostly on fishing, and a sportfish boat seemed like a prerequisite! It’s also a great place to lay out an impressive catch or to sit with a cocktail and watch the sun go down.

Extended Flybridge
Part of what makes Sir Reel different from other Mikelson Yachts is the extended flybridge. This addition partly covers the aft deck, providing some protection while fishing on rainy days. It also expands the interior of the flybridge to include three fighting (or wildlife viewing) chairs.

Sir Reel’s Unique Extended Flybridge Enclosed With Strataglass
It’s fully enclosed with Strataglass, and the wildlife viewing is unbeatable! Sitting nearly 15 feet off the water, it has the best views for spotting whales, otters, bears, and all the rest of our amazing Alaskan wildlife.
We also have two helms up here (so we’re always right in the middle of the action!), a big table, three fighting chairs, and a long comfy bench seat.

Salon & Galley
A large sliding glass door and big side windows make the salon bright and inviting. Perfect for watching the action from a comfy sofa.

The spacious salon has room for everyone to kick back. The coffee table cleverly doubles as a dining table, and there's a stowaway table in our breakfast nook. Which is also a great perch to watch the fishing action outside or keep an eye out for wildlife.
Our updated galley features a full-size fridge with a bottom-drawer freezer, plus a new oven, cooktop, and a professional sink.

Private Cabins
After a long day of adventuring, you can rest up in one of our three private cabins.
Master Cabin
Located in the bow, this cabin features a comfy queen bed and its own ensuite head (that's boat-speak for bathroom!) complete with a combination bathtub and shower.

Starboard Cabin
Perfect for a couple or two friends, this cabin offers a queen bed with a single bunk conveniently located above it. It also has private entry to the shared day head and shower.

The day head is available for guests staying in the Port and Starboard Cabins and is also accessible from the main hallway.

Port Cabin
This cozy cabin has two single bunks. It's ideal for one person or two if one guest is under 5'6".

Reel Lady, Sir Reel’s Tender
For adventures off the yacht, we rely on our 13-foot 2013 center-console AB inflatable, rigid-hull tender. It's our favorite way to get ashore for a summer evening bonfire, zip over for a visit to Hoonah or Elfin Cove, or just enjoy a peaceful wander through a remote inlet.
